The design speaks in two registers simultaneously. Above the waterline, a classic square-rigged sailing ship — two full masts with aged linen-coloured sails, rope ladders, a bowsprit, a stern flag and an ornate gilt-trimmed upper deck with arched cabin windows. Below and forward, the hull transforms into the body of a whale: a sculpted grey mechanical hull bristling with gold-plated pipes, coiled pressure tubes, gear mechanisms and a hinged jaw that opens and rotates independently.
